Sequans Communications S.A. and STMicroelectronics announced that Remo Wireless, a China-based maker of IoT devices and integrated solutions, has selected Sequans’ and ST’s CLOE IoT tracker platform to design into a variety of IoT tracker products for customers in North America, Japan, and China.

CLOE — connecting and locating objects everywhere — combines Sequans’ Monarch LTE-M/NB-IoT (Long-Term Evolution 4G technology) chip with ST’s Teseo III GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) chip in an all-in-one IoT tracker product-development solution for ODMs worldwide.

“We selected CLOE because it delivers the most powerful IoT tracker development solution we’ve seen anywhere by combining the best-in-class technologies from both Sequans and ST,” said Lu Biao, senior marketing and sales director, Remo Wireless.

“CLOE is a complete and compact pre-integrated solution that includes LTE-M, MEMS, and GNSS, and can be expanded to include Bluetooth low energy and Wi-Fi in an extremely small form factor. We are developing solutions including asset trackers, pets, and kids’ trackers, on-board diagnosis II (OBDII) devices, and more.”

A turnkey IoT tracker solution for OEMs and ODMs, CLOE integrates a power management unit (PMU), LTE, GNSS, memories and a microcontroller in a very small 30 x 40 mm package. CLOE is intelligently engineered to address multiple tracking applications with best-in-class battery life, location accuracy, reachability, mobility, and reporting periodicity. Designed with separated GNSS, LTE-M, and application domain power systems, CLOE allows its GNSS subsystem to continue to track while other domains are shut down, allowing rock-bottom power consumption.

CLOE is available now and is optimized for production based on a full bill of materials that includes LTE, GNSS, accelerometer, power supply, battery management, LED, and button management. The modular design enables copy/paste to optimize BOM cost and is easily customizable.

BOLT! of Indonesia Launches New LTE CPE Powered By Sequans

LTE chipmaker Sequans Communications S.A. announced that its LTE chipset has been selected by BOLT!, the 4G LTE service of PT Internux, pioneer of 4G LTE service in Indonesia, to power an LTE outdoor unit (ODU) that is now available and shipping to customers in Indonesia.

Gemtek, world-leading maker of broadband wireless devices and a long time partner of Sequans, is the designer and manufacturer of the new device.

“Only BOLT! offers outdoor CPEs in Indonesia and the demand from customers for wireless broadband access is very high,” said Billy Abe, Chief Product Officer of BOLT!

In addition to LTE Category 4 throughput, the new BOLT! CPE*, WLTQS-103, includes an Ethernet port, TR-069, and covers all of BOLT!’s LTE bands.

The chip inside the new BOLT! CPE is Sequans’ Mont Blanc LTE Platform. Mont Blanc comprises baseband with integrated high-performance network and application CPU, an LTE-optimized transceiver, a carrier-proven and mature LTE protocol stack, and a comprehensive software package. Designed for the highest performance and efficiency as a standalone, single mode 4G LTE solution, Mont Blanc is a powerful, compact, and cost-effective LTE connectivity solution for feature-rich, high performance mobile devices. Mont Blanc is a member of Sequans’ StreamrichLTE™ family of products for broadband devices.

Sequans Communications S.A. announced that it has established a technology collaboration with SoftBank Corp., a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp. and Japan’s leading mobile operator, to accelerate the deployment of LTE-M and NB-IoT technologies in Japan.

The two companies are conducting interoperability testing of Sequans’ Monarch LTE-M/NB-IoT platform with SoftBank’s network equipment and are developing a dedicated implementation of LwM2M technology designed to streamline the device level testing process that will result in accelerating the deployment of new IoT devices on SoftBank’s network.

LTE for IoT chipmaker Sequans Communications S.A. has successfully demonstrated the VoLTE (voice over LTE) capabilities of its Monarch LTE Platform live on Verizon’s LTE Cat M1 network.

There are many M2M and IoT applications in a wide variety of market sectors that can benefit from voice capability, including security and alarm systems for home and business, health monitoring wearables, automatic teller machines, retail kiosks, package drop-off stations, fitness bands, in-car emergency applications, people trackers, call boxes for elevators and roadside assistance, parking kiosks, and vending machines.

LTE for IoT chipmaker Sequans Communications S.A. announced that it has formalized an agreement with NTT DOCOMO to accelerate the development of LTE-M devices and applications on DOCOMO’s network, using Sequans’ Monarch LTE Platform.

The two companies have been working together on LTE for IoT for several years, beginning first with LTE Cat 1 technology, and the goal of this current collaboration is to develop and mature an end-to-end LTE-M ecosystem in Japan.
