World’s Smallest Modules Featuring Altair’s ALT1250 CAT-M1/NB1 Chipset will be Demonstrated at Mobile World Congress.

Altair Semiconductor today announced that it has selected Rohde & Schwarz as its strategic partner for test equipment for its dual-mode CAT-M1/NB1 IOT chipset ALT1250 as well as next-generation IOT chipsets.

This test equipment will be used for protocol testing as well as RF, RRM performance and carrier tests. Rohde & Schwarz is a leading global manufacturer of wireless communications and EMC test and measurement equipment and plans to develop new testing protocols for Altair’s next generations of cellular IoT chipsets.

“Our ALT1250 chipset is already forming the foundation for multiple current and emerging IoT applications,” said Ilan Reingold, VP of Business Development and Marketing for Altair. “The choice of Rohde & Schwarz is part of our commitment to the highest quality of advanced validation and performance testing for our game-changing products.”

The ALT1250 is the market’s most highly integrated dual-mode CAT-M1/NB-IoT chipset. Modules with ALT1250 inside are the world’s smallest, and may be as small as 100mm2 in area. The ALT1250 includes GNSS location positioning, a wideband RF front-end supporting all commercial LTE bands within a single hardware design, a multi-layered and hardware-based security framework, an internal application subsystem and packaging that enables standard, low-cost PCB manufacturing.

The Rohde & Schwarz R&S CMW500 is the industry’s leading test platform, offering the most validated CAT-M1/NB-IoT protocol conformance tests. It allows manufacturers and test houses to use a single instrument to verify that chipsets, modules and devices comply with GCF and PTCRB standards, and specific network operator requirements.

VINCI Highways and CARFIT Partner To Strengthen Safety On Motorways

As a specialist in predictive maintenance applied to the automotive sector CARFIT announces a partnership with VINCI Highways. Our latest product, CARFIT PULS, is a new connected vibration sensor marketed with a toll transceiver from VINCI Highways, to allow drivers to be better informed about the general state of their vehicles. This will increase a driver’s safety, and that of those driving on the VINCI managed highways.

Our CARFIT vibration sensor will also be used to monitor the condition of the undercarriage wear to parts such as the tires, wheels, shocks absorbers and brakes. The CARFIT PULS simply sticks on the back of the steering wheel. It communicates with an application and a chatbot on the user smartphones (Android/iOS) which provides the driver with maintenance alerts and maintenance recommendations.

CARFIT analysis technology compares the vibrations of a car to the standard of the car model to deduce diagnostic and replacement needs for the undercarriage wear parts which enhances safety.

Autotech startup based in France and in the United States which won the French Tech Ticket and has been accelerated by Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale-CA and by the Hub Bpifrance, CARFIT combines the science of NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) automotive vibrations with artificial intelligence technologies to create solutions for individualized predictive maintenance.

SEAT and Orange partner on development and use of connected vehicles

SEAT and Orange Spain have entered into a strategic partnership to promote the development and use of connect vehicles by focussing on several work areas.

As part of the deal, the companies will focus on three primary areas: formulation of innovations for connected vehicles to enhance user experience; turn the car into the user’s second digital home by bringing digital home or office experience to the vehicle and launch a cross-company loyalty and frequent use programme to promote use of the new connectivity and mobility solutions (related to connected cars) rolled out by them in the market.

The partnership is not just confined to the formulation of digital applications for cars but both SEAT and Orange will work together to generate initiatives that encourage using the fresh functions. The loyalty programme is a result of these initiatives.

Under their efforts to enhance entertainment and leisure services for drivers and passengers, initially music, audiovisual and learning content will be included – without any compromise to the safety of the vehicle occupants.
