SAP expands Vehicles Network with new fuel and payment options
New agreements will see a rise in the number of apps and services made available by companies to drivers of connected vehicles and their passengers.
German software giant SAP has announced a range of new connected fuel and payment options for its SAP Vehicles Network platform, a marketplace for vehicle-related services such as parking, fuelling and access to quick-service restaurants.
The company has formed new agreements with petrol retailers Deutsche Tamil and Q1, to launch hundreds of new fuelling locations for connected cars across Germany, and with connected-car technology companies PACE and Tantalum, to add new automated payment options for fuelling and parking.
SAP has also showcased new integrations with TripIt, a popular travel-organizing app, with its Concur travel and expense management software, which it acquired in 2014.
It’s experimenting, too, with payment options from Parken+ and Apple Pay, with the the aim of creating “seamless, connected travel experiences” for the future.
The announcements were made at leading technology conferences LAA New Mobility World in Frankfurt, Germany, and Mobile World Congress Americas in San Francisco, California.
A core part of the SAP Leonardo IoT portfolio, the SAP Vehicles Networkers, aims to connect companies with drivers and passengers, allowing those companies to create new revenue streams and business opportunities.
Companies that are part of the network are able to offer automated services – covering areas such as fuelling, parking, payment and food services – regardless of devices or vehicles. That makes it simple for people on the move to locate and pay for the service they need, direct from their car.
Tanja Rueckert, president of IoT & digital supply chain at SAP, said: “We continue to build momentum for SAP Vehicles Network and deliver on our vision to offer a comprehensive vehicles and mobility-centric business network for drivers and passengers.”
“With new services and innovative companies joining as customers and members, we are delivering on our vision to connect people, processes and devices through the Internet of Things and business networks from SAP.”
