IBM Watson named DESIGN&ELEKTRONIK magazine’s ‘Innovator of the Year’
The readers of Germany’s DESIGN&ELEKTRONIK magazine have selected IBM Watson as the ‘Innovator of the Year 2017’. The award is given to the movers and shakers behind new technologies that have the potential to profoundly influence the way we live and work.
DESIGN&ELEKTRONIK, whose readership mainly comprises of electronic developers, reports on the latest technological trends and the role they play in solving some of the world’s most pressing problems. The magazine asked its readers to vote for their ‘Innovator of the Year’ from within eight categories: digital technology, chip manufacturing, analogue technology, measurement technology, optoelectronics, electromechanics, passive components, and services.
IBM Watson was selected as the ‘Innovator of the Year’ within the services category, in recognition of its Cloud, Cognitive and IoT capabilities. We are delighted to have received this recognition of our commitment to drive greater value for our customers with the power of data-driven insights.

IBM Watson IoT Headquarters is a multi-award winner for its iconic design
In 2015, we announced our plans to open a new global headquarters for our IBM Watson IoT business in Munich. Its design, architecture and construction were completed in just one year – an extraordinary achievement.
Today, the IBM Watson IoT HQ is a unique collaborative hub, offering 2,400 square metres of shared laboratories, client experience zones and office space for nearly 1,000 IBM employees. It was designed as a co-creating environment, where customers and IBM staff can come together to transform their operations using a combination of IoT and Watson cognitive technologies.
